Arsenal eye Premier League duo to bolster forward line

Arsenal want to sign a centre-forward and winger during the summer transfer window and have placed Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise on their list of targets.

Arsenal’s lack of a reliable number nine has been a narrative of their season with Kai Havertz having deputised in the position for much of the campaign.

Gabriel Jesus had struggled for form and fitness during the current campaign, while Eddie Nketiah is expected to move on at the end of the season after a peripheral role.

The Guardian are reporting that Arsenal have placed Newcastle forward Isak on their list of transfer targets. The north Londoners were linked with Isak before his move to the Premier League from Real Sociedad and have been impressed with his development at St James’ Park.

Isak has scored 17 goals in 21 league starts for the Magpies this season, averaging a goal every 106 minutes in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old could cost in the region of £100m, while Arsenal also like Isak’s Sweden teammate, Viktor Gyokeres, who has had a prolific debut season for Sporting Lisbon.

Michael Olise is also said to be on the radar of Arsenal’s recruitment team. Despite an injury-plagued campaign for Crystal Palace, the 22-year-old has enhanced his reputation with six goals and three assists from nine Premier League starts.

The Frenchman turned down a move to Chelsea last summer in favour of signing a new four-year contract with the Eagles, though that deal contains a release clause, believed to be around £65m. Olise is open to a move to one of the Premier League’s top teams, as he looks to break into the France set-up.
