El Clásico rivals to go head-to-head for Man City star

Real Madrid have joined Barcelona in expressing interest in signing Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva this summer.

Silva is keen to leave the Premier League champions in search of a new challenge, with the Portugal international having been keen to join a club closer to his family ties in recent transfer windows.

Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona have been heavily linked with signing Silva, who has won five Premier League titles and the Champions League among his honours since arriving at the Etihad from AS Monaco in 2017.

Barcelona forward Joao Felix revealed earlier this month that he has had conversations with his Portugal teammate regarding a potential move to Catalonia, urging the Spanish side to launch a move for the 29-year-old in the summer.

However, Spanish outlet Sport are reporting that Real Madrid are also interested in Silva, who has a release clause of £50m that will come into effect at the end of the season.

Real Madrid could hold the advantage in the battle between the El Clásico rivals, with Barcelona’s financial situation making a deal difficult. The Catalans are already around €200m over the spending cap imposed on the club by La Liga and require significant sales before funding transfer business.
