Liverpool identify Jurgen Klopp replacement in next manager search

Liverpool have landed on their ‘leading candidate’ to replace Jurgen Klopp as the club’s next manager.

The Merseyside outfit have been on the hunt for a new head coach ever since the German incumbent announced his decision to leave Anfield at the end of the season.

A number of candidates have been in the running for the soon-to-be vacant role, including former Liverpool fan favourite Xabi Alonso.

However, the Spaniard announced his intention to remain with Bayer Leverkusen next season after winning the Bundesliga and ending Bayern Munich’s dominance.

The Reds were also linked with Roberto De Zerbi, Ruben Amorim and Julian Nagelsmann, but it seems the Premier League side has another name in mind.

Step forward, Arne Slot. The Feyenoord boss is said to be on Liverpool’s shortlist “having satisfied many of the relevant criteria set during the club’s recruitment process,” according to The Athletic.

The Dutchman has earned many plaudits for his work with the Rotterdam, having followed up last season’s Eredivisie title triumph with a KNVB Cup this past weekend.

Slot’s attacking brand of football is said to appeal to Liverpool, along with his impressive track record of developing young talent.

The report adds that the process of finding a new manager is not finished yet as they continue to assess other candidates.
