Viktor Gyokeres has said he ‘can’t promise anything’ regarding his future at Sporting Lisbon amid interest in the forward from the Premier League.
Gyokeres has had a sensational season for Sporting since arriving at the club from Coventry last summer with the 25-year-old the leading scorer in the Primeira Liga.
The Swedish striker has scored 41 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions, in addition to providing 15 assists for Ruben Amorim’s side.
Gyokeres’ goals have helped Sporting to the Primeira Liga title with the capital club crowned champions after city rivals Benfica were beaten 2-0 by Famalicao on Sunday.
His form has attracted significant interest from English football and Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have all been credited with interest in Gyokeres, who has a release clause of €100m (£85m) in his contract at the Estádio José Alvalade.
Asked if he will still be at the club next season, Gyokeres reiterated his happiness at Sporting but said he cannot promise anything as we approach the summer transfer window.
“Stay next season? It’s football, it’s normal, I can’t promise anything,” he is quoted as saying by A Bola.
“I really like being here, but in football everything happens very fast and we have to adapt.
“I can’t make so many predictions, it’s difficult, there are still games this season, then we’ll see.”
