Ten Hag lays out Man Utd transfer plans despite imminent sack

Erik ten Hag says Manchester United need to make three key signings in the transfer window as he prepares for what might be his final game as manager on Saturday.

The Red Devils take on Manchester City in the FA Cup final, which kicks off at 3pm. Claiming his second trophy in two years would be a tall order for the Dutchman, but reports suggest victory would not be enough to save his job.

Despite this, Ten Hag has laid out his transfer plans for the summer ahead of the game, revealing the three most important positions for which Man Utd need to recruit so they can compete for Champions League qualification again.

Ten Hag on Man Utd transfer plans:

“We need to sign an extra striker in the summer,” he told Voetbal International. “And if we can sign another central midfielder and a replacement for Varane, things will look good again.

“If the team remains fit we can try and aim for top four again.”

Ten Hag’s position has come under serious threat after a disappointing campaign in which they finished eighth in the Premier League and were knocked out of the Champions League at the group stage.

Reports this week claim that the 54-year-old will be sacked after the FA Cup final, but he is defiant that he will remain in the dugout next season.

“INEOS will change things in the club and certain projects have already started,” Ten Hag said.

“Carrington will get be completely destroyed, a new training ground will come.

“INEOS told me that they want to change everything and that they want to rebuild with me.

“This is what they told me directly.”
