Jose Mourinho held his first press conference since joining Fenerbahce as the club’s new manager, which ran for 106 minutes.
The Portuguese, who was sacked by Roma in January, was unveiled before fans at a packed Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium on Sunday before greeting the media on Monday.
One of the many topics up for discussion was transfers as ‘The Special One’ makes preparations for next season, with the Turkish club having been linked with a move for Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling in the past week.
However, Mourinho says that he has not spoken with the club about potential transfer targets yet. Furthermore, he does not plan on raiding his former club Roma for new signings when the window opens.
“The first person that contacted me was Mario Branco which we know he’s Fenerbahce’s sporting director, that was my first contact with club. That was the trigger for my attention, trigger for my interest in becoming coach later,” Mourinho said.
“Lots of rumours always when I’m in any club. I understand Fenerbahce is not different, the truth is that I have never spoke about one single player for a possible transfer market.
“Everything is about project, everything about the stability I want to find now we move a bit in the direction of profiles that we need, to improve the team. Not at all ever have I spoken about a name with anyone.
“Names of my previous players, previous club, I want to make it 100 percent my word. I have zero interest in every player or any player from Roma.
“Not time to rush. Not time to feel emotions. It is time to come and to make the things right which is what we try to do.”
