Premier League clubs on alert as Bayern put defender up for sale

Bayern Munich are reportedly hoping to offload Dayot Upamecano in the summer transfer window, opening up the possibility of a Premier League move.

The French defender has endured a difficult season in Bavaria and has not hit the heights expected of him since joining from RB Leipzig in 2021.

Upamecano has a contract that runs until 2026, but Bayern want to sell him as they hope to sign centre-back Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen, according to BILD (via iMiaSanMia). The German outfit are also looking at Salzburg’s Oumar Solet as a possible signing.

The 25-year-old have been linked with a number of Premier League clubs in the past, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Upamecano previously revealed how he came close to joining Man United when he was 17 years of age.

“I was a young boy, I wanted to sign for them straight away,” he told The Athletic in 2021.

“Manchester United! But then my parents took me aside and said: ‘Let’s think carefully about this’.”
