Palhinha backed to take Bayern ‘to another level’ amid transfer talks

Joao Palhinha has the potential to be a transformative signing for Bayern Munich, according to Roberto Martinez.

The Portugal midfielder came agonisingly close to joining the German outfit last summer, but the deal fell apart on transfer deadline day when Fulham failed to find a replacement.

Bayern are still keen to sign the 28-year-old, but have seen two bids rejected by the Cottagers, who reportedly value the player at £70m.

Palhinha, who was also linked with Liverpool last year, started in Portugal’s penalty shootout win over Slovenia on Monday night, which saw the team progress to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024.
