Palace discover potential Guehi replacement available for €20m this summer

Crystal Palace will be able to sign Maxence Lacroix for a fee of around €20m (£17m) this summer after the defender turned down a new deal at Wolfsburg.

Lacroix has rejected the option of a new contract at Wolfsburg and is set to be sold after entering the final 12 months of his deal at the Bundesliga side.



 

Crystal Palace have been heavily-linked with signing the French centre-back with Oliver Glasner having been responsible for signing Lacroix from Sochaux during his stint at Wolfsburg.

The 6ft 3in centre-back is viewed as a potential replacement for Marc Guehi, who is attracting interest from the Premier League’s elite after impressing for England during this summer’s European Championship.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Lacroix is attracting interest in England and Spain as an exit looms, with Everton and Liverpool linked in recent months. The latter are in the market for a centre-back to replace Joel Matip.



 

The 24-year-old scored four goals in 28 league appearances for Wolfsburg last season and ranked ninth in the Bundesliga or percentage of dribblers tackled (70.7%), However, he struggled with ill-discipline and was sent off three times.
