Liverpool are set to break their historical wage structure to sign Chelsea teenager Rio Ngumoha.
Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign the highly-rated youngster from their Premier League rivals after contract talks between Ngumoha and Chelsea broke down.
The Reds are prepared to break their wage structure for academy talent to sign the 15-year-old, whose contract in West London expires this summer.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that an agreement is close between Liverpool and the England youth international, in what will be considered a coup for the Merseysider’s academy set-up.

Ngumoha, who was born in 2008, trained with the Chelsea first-team earlier this year and featured for the u-21 side in 2023-24. He became the third-youngest player to represent Chelsea’s u-21 side this century.
The winger has been likened to Jamal Musiala and won the Premier League U16 Nationals ‘Player of the Tournament’ award in October 2023 after scoring in the final. He also netted a brilliant individual effort in the u-17 Premier League Cup Final in April.
