€60m Euro 2024 star ‘motivated’ by transfer links

Dani Olmo has said it is ‘good’ to see his name being linked to ‘great teams in Europe’ after starring for Spain at this summer’s European Championship.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Barcelona are among the clubs reportedly interested in signing the Spaniard, who has a release clause of €60m (£51m) in his contract at RB Leipzig.

The 26-year-old has been a key part of Spain’s run to the final of Euro 2024, with three goals and two assists to lead the standings for the tournament’s Golden Boot.

La Roja will face either the Netherlands or England in Sunday’s decider, before attention will turn to Olmo’s future at club level.

The midfielder’s release clause is understood to expire on July 15th but Olmo remains ‘calm’ about his future. He said links to Europe’s top teams are a source of motivation for him to continue performing.

“I am calm and focused on what is coming, which is the Euro, which is no small thing,” Olmo said to Mundo Deportivo.

“It is clear that it is good to see your name related to great teams in Europe and the world, that motivates me, but I am focused on the Euro and I hope we can return with the trophy.

“Then we’ll see. It’s nice to see your name related to the greats, but I insist, it’s nothing that bothers me. I am focused on the field and then whatever has to be, will be.”
