Italian giants battling to sign Arsenal defender

Inter Milan are battling Juventus and Bologna in the race to sign Jakub Kiwior from Arsenal.

Kiwior is expected to leave Arsenal as the Gunners close in on the signing of Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna, with the North London side having agreed a deal to sign the Italy international.

Calafiori’s arrival will increase competition for places in Mikel Arteta’s defence and Kiwior is set to leave in search of regular first-team football.

The Poland international has struggled to command an automatic role at Arsenal and has started just 16 league games across his 18 months at the Emirates. With a depth of options available at centre-back and left-back, Arsenal are prepared to sanction his sale with Serie A sides keen.

Calciomercato claim Inter have moved ahead of Juventus in the running as the Italian champions look to reinforce their backline for the 2024-25 campaign. Kiwior previously impressed in Italy at Spezia before his move to the Premier League.

However, Kiwior’s name has also been discussed between Arsenal and Bologna during the negotiations for Calafiori.

Any deal would be separate to the Italian’s transfer to London, though Kiwior is viewed as an ideal replacement for Calafiori as Bologna prepare for a first Champions League campaign since 1964-65 this season.
