Manchester United are considering requesting Nordi Mukiele, Manuel Ugarte and Milan Skriniar as potential options in a swap deal with Paris Saint-Germain for Jadon Sancho.
Erik ten Hag’s team have firmed up initial interest in signing Ugarte from the French side with the 23-year-old viewed as a long-term option in the club’s defensive midfield role.
Ugarte signed for PSG from Sporting Lisbon last summer for a fee of €60m, though the Ligue 1 side are prepared to allow the midfielder to leave for the right fee.
PSG’s interest in signing Sancho from United has opened up the prospect of a swap deal between the clubs, though the Parisian’s €70m (£59m) valuation of Ugarte has proven problematic so far.
The Express are reporting that Mukiele and Skriniar are potential alternatives in a swap deal.
United are keen to sign a right-back with Aaron Wan-Bissaka set to leave Old Trafford and Mukiele is viewed as a possible replacement, should the Red Devils fail in a bid to sign Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich.
The Red Devils also want to bring in an additional centre-back despite the arrival of Leny Yoro from Lille.
United have held talks with Bayern Munich for Matthijs de Ligt but have so far refused to match the €50m asking price for the Dutch defender, while two bids for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite were turned down earlier in the transfer window.
Skriniar could be targeted with the Slovakian central defender a long-term target for Premier League clubs.
The 29-year-old signed for PSG on a free transfer from Inter Milan last summer but made just 17 league starts in 2023-24. No player in Europe’s top five leagues had a higher pass accuracy than Skriniar (95.1%) last season.
