New West Ham signing sets lofty goal following Leeds transfer

West Ham United have completed the signing of Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

Last season’s Championship Player of the Year has made the move from Yorkshire to London on a five-year deal, for a transfer fee reported to be an initial £25 million.

The 22-year-old winger contributed 20 goals and nine assists to Leeds‘ campaign in 2023/24, but they missed out on an instant return to the Premier League after losing to play-off final to Southampton in May.

Summerville will be back in the top-flight next season however, and he has his sights set on helping the Hammers qualify for Europe after they failed to do so for the first time in four years last term.

“I think I’m here to help write more history here, and I’d love to help West Ham get back into Europe,” he proclaimed at the announcement of his move on Saturday.

The Dutchman is not the only new arrival expected this weekend, as Niclas Fullkrug and Guido Rodriguez reportedly set to finish their medicals on Sunday before being officially unveiled as West Ham players.
