Arsenal accept loan offer for out-of-favour forward

Arsenal are prepared to accept a loan bid for Eddie Nketiah from Marseille, with the deal to include an obligation to make the move permanent.

Marseille have seen a €20m (£16.8m) bid turned down for the 25-year-old who is keen to leave Arsenal in search of first-team football, with the French side’s proposal having fallen below Arsenal’s valuation.

Nketiah has agreed personal terms on a potential five-year deal with Marseille but the breakdown in negotiations over a fee stalled a move.

However, The Athletic are reporting that Arsenal are prepared to sanction a loan exit provided the deal includes an obligatory €30m purchase clause.

Nketiah is keen to quit Arsenal after making just 10 league starts last season, with the forward struggling to dislodge Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus for a regular role.

Marseille will now make a decision on whether to proceed with the deal as Roberto De Zerbi pushes for the signing of the one-cap England international.

The former Brighton boss has took charge of Marseille this summer and has been active in the transfer market, with the Ligue 1 side’s additions including the arrivals of Mason Greenwood from Manchester United and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham.
