Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign Wolves winger Pedro Neto in a deal worth €63m (£53.9m).
The big-spending Blues are showing no signs of slowing down during another active summer of recruitment and are in advanced talks with Premier League rivals Wolves over a deal to sign Neto.
Chelsea are understood to have reached an agreement with the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, on personal terms and The Athletic have confirmed a fee has been agreed with Wolves for the player.
Neto provided nine assists in 18 league starts for Wolves last season with only Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne recording a higher assist per 90 figure than the 24-year-old. However, Neto’s time at Molineux has been punctuated by injury problems with the winger sidelined for extended periods last season with two separate hamstring injuries.
Arsenal and Tottenham have been linked with Neto but Chelsea are now closing in on a deal to sign the winger.
Enzo Maresca had made Neto his top target to strengthen his squad as Chelsea look to sign a winger before the transfer deadline later this month.
Neto could become Chelsea’s ninth signing of the transfer window so far, with the club’s arrivals including Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Tosin Adarabioyo and Filip Jorgensen.
Wolves will target Ajax winger Carlos Borges as a potential replacement for Neto, should his sale be finalised.
