Chelsea are set to begin their fire sale of talent before the deadline with the loan exit of Armando Broja.
Stuttgart are in talks to sign the striker on a season-long loan arrangement as the German side look to bolster their squad after Champions League qualification.
Serhou Guirassy’s move to Borussia Dortmund has heightened Stuttgart’s need for reinforcements and Broja is a ‘concrete option’ for Sebastian Hoeneß side who are exploring the loan market.
The Albania international has been deemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea after failing to establish himself in the club’s plans. Broja missed much of the last two seasons due to injury problems and spent the second half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Fulham.
He failed to make an impression at Craven Cottage and will be hoping to reignite his career with another move this summer.
The 22-year-old’s negotiations with Stuttgart are ‘not advanced’, according to Sky Germany, but there is strong interest from the Bundesliga.
Broja has scored three goals in 38 appearances for Chelsea since progressing from the club’s academy ranks, with his best football having come during loan spells at Vitesse Arnhem and Southampton. The Slough-born striker has also scored five times in 23 appearances for Albania at international level.
Broja’s exit could start a busy end to the transfer window for Chelsea as the Blues look to reduce a bloated squad.
Chelsea currently have 42 first-team players on their books and can only register 25 for the Premier League season, with eight of those having to be homegrown. Under 21 players are exempt from the registration rules.
