Eddie Nketiah’s exit from Arsenal has collapsed after Marseille refused to meet the €30m asking price for the forward.
Nketiah had agreed terms on a transfer to the French side as he looks to secure regular first-team football.
The 25-year-old started just 10 league games for the Gunners in 2023/24 and has struggled to dislodge Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus from Mikel Arteta’s side.
Nketiah had reached an agreement with Marseille over a five-year contract, but the Ligue 1 side saw an opening offer of €20m (£16.8m) turned down.
Arsenal’s demand for a €30m fee has been rejected by Marseille, who have withdrawn their interest and moved on to alternative targets.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side have agreed a deal to sign Elye Wahi from divisional rivals Lens for an initial fee of €25m.
The 21-year-old scored 19 league goals for Montpellier in 2022/23 before a club-record move to Lens last summer. However, Lens are prepared to sanction the striker’s sale after just one season with the club.
