Arsenal are close to agreeing the sale of Eddie Nketiah to Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side had an opening offer of £25m including add-ons rejected but have progressed in further talks with Arsenal for the forward.
Nketiah is keen to explore his options after struggling for a regular role in the Arsenal side, having started just 10 league fixtures in 2023/24.
The 25-year-old made his England debut last season and will hope regular first-team football can push him back into contention for a place in the squad.
Marseille made an approach to sign Nketiah earlier in the transfer window but were unable to agree terms. The French side turned their attention to Lens forward Elye Wahi after failing to meet Arsenal’s demands for the player.
The Athletic have confirmed that Nottingham Forest are now nearing an agreement for Nketiah with Arsenal valuing the Hale End graduate at between £30m and £35m. Nketiah would add to Nottingham Forest’s forward options, alongside Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi.
It is understood that Nketiah is the club’s top target despite discussions with Feyenoord for Santiago Gimenez. Forest saw an offer turned down for Gimenez, with their bid in the region of €25m not close to the Dutch side’s valuation of the 23-year-old.
