James Maddison hailed the ‘ridiculous’ ability of Yves Bissouma after the midfielder scored a cracking goal on his return to the Spurs lineup.
The Mali international was left out of the matchday squad for Monday’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City after Ange Postecoglou disciplined him for being pictured apparently taking nitrous oxide, also known as ‘laughing gas’, in pre-season.
The 27-year-old was named in the starting XI for Saturday’s visit of Everton and repaid the faith shown in him by the manager with a brilliant strike that went in off the crossbar during the 4-0 win.
“We all know Yves’ ability,” Maddison told Sky Sports after the game. “He is a ridiculous player at times. He has got a skill not many have. The gaffer is a great man with good morals. He [Bissouma] has to keep working hard.

Tottenham ripped apart an Everton side missing a number of key players in defence as Son Heung-min scored a brace and Cristian Romero found the net to secure the club’s first win of the new campaign.
“The scoreline is quite devastating when you look at 4-0,” Maddison added. “I think we thoroughly deserved it. We dominated and we felt we should have had three points last Monday [against Leicester].
“The performance was there on Monday. It was a case of not putting our chances away.
“It’s important you try and put into practice what the manager wants. It’s about us trusting him.”

Postecoglou was pleased with his side’s mentality following Monday’s disappointing result. “Football was good and we played well,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“We played well last week and we dominated the game, today was a bit different. The lads had a strong mindset and we got a really good goal early on and we didn’t let off after that.”
