Crystal Palace aim to capitalise on Arsenal forward’s failed move

Crystal Palace are aiming to capitalise on the breakdown of Eddie Nketiah’s proposed move from Arsenal to Nottingham Forest.

Nketiah’s transfer to Nottingham Forest has fallen through after the club failed to reach an agreement with the Arsenal forward on personal terms. The two teams had agreed a fee in the region of £30m for the 25-year-old, who is keen to leave Arsenal in search of a regular role.

The Athletic are reporting that Crystal Palace are now looking to capitalise with a move for Nketiah before the deadline.

The Eagles have a long-standing interest in the one-cap England international, who has scored 38 goals in 168 senior appearances for Arsenal. Oliver Glasner wants to improve his forward options and add support for Jean-Phillipe Mateta and Odsonne Edouard, following the departure of Jordan Ayew to Leicester City.

Negotiations are expected to begin between Palace and Arsenal with a transfer for Nketiah expected before the August 30 deadline.

Forest have now switched their attention back to Feyenoord forward Santiago Gimenez with a third offer for the Mexico international, worth in the region of €33m plus add-ons. Gimenez has scored 53 goals in 89 games for the Dutch side and is open to a move to the City Ground.
