Red Bull Salzburg are finalising a loan move for Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic.
Pep Lijnders was named as head coach of Salzburg earlier this summer and the former Liverpool assistant is set to return to his old side for another recruit.
Salzburg have already completed a £10m permanent deal to sign Bobby Clark from Liverpool and are now finalising Bajcetic’s arrival in Austria.
The Spanish teenager impressed during a breakout season at Liverpool in 2022/23, where he became the third youngest goalscorer for the Merseysiders in the Premier League, behind Michael Owen and Raheem Sterling.
However, his debut campaign was curtailed due to an adductor injury in March and Bajcetic missed almost the entirety of last season through injury.
A decision has been made to loan out the 19-year-old in order to aid his development and comeback, with former Jurgen Klopp assistant Lijnders keen to work with the player again.
Salzburg finished second in the Austrian Bundesliga last season, as Sturm Graz ended the club’s run of 10 consecutive league titles.
Lijnders’ side will compete in the Champions League this season after beating Dynamo Kyiv to secure qualification to the new league phase.
