Arsenal are discussing the prospect of signing Raheem Sterling from Chelsea before Friday’s transfer deadline.
Sterling has been offered to Arsenal as the winger looks to secure an exit from Chelsea, having been informed that he does not feature in the club’s plans.
Enzo Maresca has told the 29-year-old that he will not receive minutes this season and Sterling has been exploring his options, with Manchester United also linked as part of a potential swap deal involving Jadon Sancho.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Arsenal are discussing signing Sterling internally, as the transfer window for Premier League clubs enters its final hours.
Arsenal have been keen to add another wide player to their squad this summer, having expressed interest in signing Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao earlier in the window.
Sterling set for Arteta reunion at Arsenal?
Mikel Arteta discussed the prospect of signing Sterling last week, having worked with the player during his time on the coaching staff at Manchester City.
“I can talk about my time with Raheem. My time with Raheem was exceptional. We built a really strong relationship together. He was unbelievable at the time we were together.
“He taught me a lot as well, about individuals, how they, players think, how we support them. He is someone I have really strong feelings about.”
Sterling would add depth to Arsenal’s forward line with the Gunners lacking competition for Bukayo Saka on the right-hand side. He could become the latest player to move directly from Chelsea to Arsenal, following the acquisitions of Jorginho and Kai Havertz in recent transfer windows.
