Forward gives ‘green light’ to deadline day Chelsea transfer

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has given the ‘green light’ to a move to Chelsea before the transfer deadline.

Sancho is exploring his options ahead of an expected deadline day exit from Manchester United with the winger free to leave should a suitable offer arrive. Juventus had been pursuing a deal for the 24-year-old, though talks between the Italian side and United have stalled.

Juventus were unwilling to proceed with the conditions of an initial loan deal for Sancho and negotiations have broken down, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Chelsea emerge as Sancho favourites

Chelsea have now emerged as the frontrunners to sign Sancho. The West London side are long-term admirers of the player, who has struggled to convince since his £72.9m transfer to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.

Sancho has now given the ‘green light’ to a move to Stamford Bridge and is attracted by the project at Chelsea, the club he grew up supporting. The move would see Sancho return to his native London.

Chelsea have reportedly offered Raheem Sterling as part of a potential swap deal, though United’s interest in the out-of-favour 29-year-old is unclear.

Sancho would add to an already well-stocked forward line for Chelsea, who have Christopher Nkunku, Joao Felix, Noni Madueke, Cole Palmer, and Mykhailo Mudryk among their options in support of a centre-forward.

The winger spent the second half of last season on loan at former club Borussia Dortmund after a public fallout with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag in 2023/24.

Sancho was involved during the club’s pre-season schedule after repairing his relationship with the Dutchman but has been informed that he can leave before the transfer deadline.
