Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Tottenham will again be without record signing Dominic Solanke this weekend.
Spurs travel to face Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday, in a fixture that has not been kind to the North Londoners in recent campaigns.
Postecoglou’s men lost 4-0 at St James’ Park last season, while Spurs were thrashed 6-1 on their previous visit to Newcastle under former interim boss Cristian Stellini.
Solanke ruled out of Newcastle clash
Spurs will once again be without the services of Solanke, who signed from Bournemouth in a club-record £65m deal this summer.
The 26-year-old made his debut against Leicester on the opening weekend but has since picked up an ankle issue. Postecoglou confirmed the striker will miss this weekend’s trip to Tyneside, while Richarlison is also out for ‘the next few weeks’ after picking up an injury in training this week.
“Dom is close but we’re going to be a bit cautious with him, we’ve got a big programme post the international break, so he’ll miss out on Sunday,” Postecoglou said in his pre-match press conference.
“The only other one we got midweek is Richarlison, who unfortunately picked up an injury in training, so he’ll probably miss the next few weeks.”
Bentancur available for Spurs
Postecoglou confirmed that Rodrigo Bentancur is able to return, after the midfielder suffered a nasty head injury during the draw at Leicester earlier this month.
“Rodrigo [Bentancur] is all good, he’s passed all the protocols we need to, and more importantly he feels really good and the medical team are really comfortable with him being available for Sunday.”
