Adam Wharton has been selected for the England u-21 squad for September’s fixtures with Northern Ireland and Austria.
The Crystal Palace midfielder was part of the senior squad for Euro 2024 in the summer but did not feature at the tournament and now drops back to the u-21 group.
In the first squad named by interim head coach Ben Futcher, there’s a first call-up for Ipswich midfielder Omari Hutchinson after his impressive role in the club’s promotion to the Premier League.
Ipswich teammate Liam Delap is selected alongside the forward group which contains Aston Villa trio Samuel Iling-Junior, Jaden Philogene and Morgan Rogers.
Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson is included. The 21-year-old has represented Scotland at international level to date, earning one cap for the u-21 side.
