Spanish trio rival Ancelotti in Coach of the Year nominees

Pep Guardiola is one of three Spanish coaches nominated for the 2024 Menโ€™s Team Coach of the Year accolade which will be awarded at the Ballon d’Or ceremony.

Guardiola led Manchester City to a record-breaking fourth Premier League title in a row during the 2023/24 campaign, as the Citizens became the first team in English football history to achieve the feat.

It continued an era of domestic dominance for the Blues and Guardiola has been shortlisted for the 2024 Men’s Team Coach of the Year award.

A competitive final shortlist also features ex-Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, who masterminded Bayer Leverkusen’s first-ever Bundesliga title without losing a game. Leverkusen added the German Cup to make it a historic double.

Carlo Ancelotti is aiming for the accolade after leading Real Madrid to La Liga and Champions League success, while the shortlist is completed by Spain’s Euro 2024 winner Luis De La Fuenta, Argentina’s Copa America-winning coach Lionel Scaloni, and Gian Piero Gasperini, who led Atalanta to the Europa League.
