Premier League announce nominees for August awards

The Premier League have unveiled the nominees for August’s awards following the first month of the 2024/25 campaign.

Eight players have been nominated for the Player of the Month award, with Erling Haaland the favourite after a red-hot start to the season. The Manchester City forward has scored seven goals in three games, including back-to-back hat-tricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham.



 

Amadou Onana is also shortlisted after scoring twice in a strong start at new club Aston Villa, as is Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah who has three goals and three assists from three games. Arsenal duo David Raya and Bukayo Saka, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, Brighton striker Danny Welbeck and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer complete the shortlist.

The Manager of the Month shortlist features four names, including two coaches new to the Premier League. Arne Slot and Fabian Hurzeler are included after unbeaten starts with Liverpool and Brighton respectively, with the duo up against Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola.
