Liverpool could be handed a boost in the club’s bid to keep Trent Alexander-Arnold with Real Madrid running the rule over Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong.
Alexander-Arnold is out of contract at Liverpool at the end of the current campaign with no public progress on an extension to his deal.
The 25-year-old is one of three high-profile players whose deals at Anfield are set to expire in 2025, alongside Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.
Real Madrid continue to be linked with Alexander-Arnold as the European champions consider long-term replacements for Dani Carvajal.
Alexander-Arnold has a close friendship with England teammate and Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham and it has been suggested that he could be open to a new challenge in the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid monitoring Jeremie Frimpong
However, Spanish outlet Defensa Central are reporting that Frimpong is ‘hopeful’ of a move to Real Madrid next summer after contact from the Bernabeu.
The Dutchman has been an integral part of Leverkusen’s success in recent campaigns and starred during the club’s Bundesliga title-winning campaign in 2023/24.
Frimpong scored nine goals and laid on seven assists from wing-back and was included in the Bundesliga Team of the Season for the second successive campaign. Liverpool are also said to have Frimpong on their radar should Alexander-Arnold leave the club.
