Nicolas Jackson delivers Chelsea message following new extension

Nicolas Jackson is going to be a Chelsea player for a very long time after putting pen to paper on a contract extension.

The Senegal international was already contracted to the club until 2031 after signing an eight-year deal as part of his £30 million transfer from Villarreal last summer.

The Blues have now handed the forward an additional two years on top of his current deal, tying him to Stamford Bridge until 2033.

Despite receiving criticism for not being clinical enough in front of goal, Jackson enjoyed a productive maiden campaign, registering 14 goals and five assists in 35 appearances. He added three goals and an assist in the cup competitions.

“It feels great the club has confidence in me,” the 23-year-old said. “I am working very hard. I am very happy to extend my contract and stay here for many years.”

Jackson has scored twice in the first three games of the season, while Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca previously said that he is “very happy” with how the striker has been performing since taking over from Mauricio Pochettino.

“Nicolas is doing a fantastic job with us, on and off the ball. He scored already two goals [this season]. He scored again today. He had another two chances but we are happy with him.”
