Mykhailo Mudryk will be given one final chance to impress at Chelsea in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash with League Two outfit Barrow.
Mudryk has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League since his arrival from Shakhtar Donetsk in a deal that could reach £88.5m in January 2023.
The winger’s inconsistent performances have seen him return just five goals and four assists in 48 league appearances for the Blues.
Chelsea beat competition from Arsenal to land the Ukraine international, who was viewed as one of Europe’s best up-and-coming talents at Shakhtar. However, he has failed to live up to expectations in English football.
Mudryk has featured for just 62 minutes in the Premier League so far this season, having lost his place in the side under new head coach Enzo Maresca.
The improved form of Noni Madueke, alongside summer signings of Jadon Sancho, Pedro Neto and Joao Felix, have increased competition for a first-team place at Stamford Bridge.
GiveMeSport are reporting that Mudryk will be handed ‘one final change’ to impress the new manager when Chelsea take on Barrow in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night. The West Londoners host their fourth-tier opponents in the third round of the competition and Maresca is set to hand opportunities to several fringe stars.
Barrow are currently top of the League Two table after seven games, as
Stephen Clemence’s side target promotion to the third tier.
