Man City have been dealt a major blow in the Premier League title race after tests confirmed the injury sustained by Rodri.
The Spanish midfielder’s knee seemingly buckled during last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal, leaving him in agony on the Emirates Stadium pitch before hobbling off.
Following reports of a potentially season-ending injury, Pep Guardiola said on Tuesday that Rodri would be out “for a long time” but added that initial assessments suggested he could be sidelined for less time than expected.
Those hopes were largely extinguished on Wednesday morning after the 28-year-old received specialist consultation in Spain, which revealed he has suffered ligament damage.
