Newcastle winger to snub transfer interest and sign new deal

Anthony Gordon has reached an agreement with Newcastle United over a new contract.

Gordon has emerged as an integral part of Eddie Howe’s side since signing from Everton in a £45m deal in January 2023.

The winger was named as Newcastle’s Player of the Season for 2023/24 after an excellent first full season at St James’ Park that saw Gordon score 11 goals and provide 10 assists in the Premier League.

His form saw Gordon break into the England squad and he formed part of the squad that reached the final of Euro 2024 in the summer.

Newcastle turned down Gordon approaches in the summer

Liverpool were linked with a move to bring the 23-year-old back to Merseyside in the summer transfer window, while Arsenal have also been named as admirers of the player.

However, Newcastle have now reached an agreement with Gordon over a new deal that will make the winger one of the club’s highest earners.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the contract will be a five-year deal valid until 2029, with an official announcement on the extension expected from the Magpies imminently.

It will be a major boost for Newcastle to retain the services of Gordon, having turned down approaches for the England international in the summer.
