Spurs star struggling to make Manchester United clash

Son Heung-min is a major doubt for Tottenham’s trip to face Manchester United in the Premier League this weekend.

The South Korean was forced off as Spurs began their Europa League campaign with a 3-0 victory at home to Qarabag on Thursday night. After going down in discomfort, Son received treatment before being substituted with Timo Werner introduced as his replacement.

Spurs are short of attacking depth ahead of the trip to Old Trafford, with Richarlison and summer signing Wilson Odobert confirmed absentees.

Postecoglou has said Spurs will give Son every ‘chance’ of making the clash with top-four rivals Manchester United, though admitted the club captain is a doubt to feature.

“It’s fair to say the boys are fairly tired, the boys who played. Apart from Sonny, everyone is OK,” Postecoglou said at his pre-match press conference.

“Sonny, I don’t think it’s too bad. He wants to train tomorrow. We’ll see how he goes in training tomorrow and see where we for from there. We’ve got another day up our sleeve to give him an extra chance.”

“I don’t always have the final say but I would like to think my input is significant. It is part of a broader discussion, but the way he is performing and leading, I want him around for a while longer.”

Spurs teenager Mikey Moore an option to face Manchester United

Mikey Moore featured as a substitute against Qarabag on Thursday and Postecoglou disagreed with suggestions that the 17-year-old is too experienced to feature this weekend.

“No, I wouldn’t say that. We’ll see with Sonny, but with Wilson [Odobert] out and Richy [Richarlison] out, we’re kind of limited.

“But Timo [Werner] and Mikey certainly come into the fray, and we’ve got [Dejan] Kulusevski who can play wide as well. But firstly we’ll just see how Sonny is and decide from there.”
