Liverpool boss issues verdict on Crystal Palace penalty decision

Liverpool manager Arne Slot does not believe that Crystal Palace should have been awarded a penalty on Saturday.

The Reds came away from Selhurst Park with a 1-0 win thanks to Diogo Jota’s first-half finish, keeping them top of the Premier League table heading into the international break.

The hosts, however, were denied a penalty in the second half. Virgil van Dijk appeared to hold onto Marc Guehi’s arm as he made an effort to get to the ball in the box, but referee Simon Hooper did not deem it a foul.

The incident was reviewed by the VAR, who confirmed the decision, “deeming that the challenge was not sustained holding and had no impact on the play,” according to the Premier League Match Centre.
