Fulham arrive at Eastlands in good spirit, having gone five unbeaten in the Premier League since losing at Manchester United on the opening weekend.
The Cottagers are sixth in the table and hoping to upset the odds to reach Europe this season. Emile Smith Rowe has impressed since arriving from Arsenal, while Adama Traore has been in fine form of late. The latter has previous against Manchester City, having scored three career goals against the Blues. It’s the most he has scored against a single opponent in the Premier League.

Manchester City will be without Rodri (ACL) for the rest of the season, while Kevin De Bruyne, Nathan Ake and Oscar Bobb are also out. Bobb is a longer-term absentee, while De Bruyne and Ake are expected to return after this month’s international break. Guardiola has said De Bruyne will not link up with Belgium for October’s games.
“How can you play for the national team when you haven’t played (for your club)?” he said at his pre-match press conference.
“I never understood that. He didn’t tell me he was retiring from Belgium. For this game he is injured, so he is not available.”
Guardiola made six changes to his team in midweek, including in goal as Stefan Ortega started against Slovan Bratislava. Ederson is expected to return to the XI this weekend and there could also be recalls for Ruben Dias, Mateo Kovacic and Jack Grealish.
Erling Haaland continued his superb start to the season with another goal in midweek and has now netted 11 goals in nine appearances in 2024/25.
