Maresca unconcerned by Chelsea’s patchy home form

Enzo Maresca has said he is unconcerned by Chelsea’s form at home after the Blues were held to a 1-1 draw by Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s five-game winning run in all competitions came to an end as Forest battled to a draw in West London, despite James Ward-Prowse’s second-half red card for the visitors.

Chris Wood’s goal fired Forest in front after 49 minutes, as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side threatened another upset after winning at Liverpool earlier in the season.

Chelsea trailed for just eight minutes, however, as Noni Madueke’s fourth league goal of the campaign levelled. The hosts were unable to find a second goal, despite playing the final 12 minutes with a man advantage after Ward-Prowse picked up a second booking for handball.

Maresca believes his team ‘deserved’ to take the three points and was pleased with the overall performance level.

“I think we deserved to win,” Maresca said, speaking to BBC MOTD2.

“They are a very good team and we knew they would defend well. It was a tough and tricky game, very different to Brighton. We were patient on the ball and created chances.

“Overall the performance was good and I think we deserved to win.

“Their keeper was the best of the game. We created chances and arrived at goal in the way we want to.”

Maresca said he remains unconcerned by Chelsea’s inconsistent results on home soil. The Blues have a perfect record on the road in 2024/25 (3/3) but have won just one of their four fixtures at Stamford Bridge.

Asked if he has any concerns over home performances, he added: “I don’t think so. If you analyse the games, I think Crystal Palace was like today – we created and deserved to win. I don’t think there is any reason.”
