Manchester United send scouts to watch Napoli duo

Manchester United have sent scouts to watch Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno recently.

Erik ten Hag’s team are tracking the progress of the duo ahead of a potential approach in the upcoming transfer windows.

Kvaratskhelia has emerged as one of Europe’s best up-and-coming wingers in Naples and was named Serie A’s Most Valuable Player as the club won a drought-breaking league title in 2022/23.

The Georgian has 57 goals and assists in 98 appearances for the Italian side, including four in eight Serie A games this season.

Tuttomercatoweb are reporting that Manchester United have scouted the 23-year-old in recent weeks, though it would take a huge offer to convince Napoli to sell.

Antonio Conte’s side are also set to offer a new long-term deal to the winger that will see his salary increase to around €6m-per-season, though he could be sold in the summer should he not extend his terms. His current deal expires in 2027 and next summer could mark the last chance for Napoli to sell at a premium price.

United are also admirers of Buongiorno. The central defender joined Napoli from divisional rivals Torino in a €35m deal in the summer, having led the league for interceptions in 2023/24. He ranks among Serie A’s top players for percentage of dribblers tackled (3rd) and blocks (6th) over the opening weeks of the season.
