Arne Slot has confirmed that Diogo Jota will miss Liverpool’s trip to face Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.
Jota was withdrawn in the first half of last weekend’s 2-1 win over Chelsea and sat out the midweek win at RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
The 27-year-old, who has four goals and two assists in 10 appearances across all competitions this season, has not recovered in time to face Arsenal this weekend.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Slot confirmed that Federico Chiesa and Conor Bradley have also been ruled out of the trip to the Emirates but are closer to returns.
League leaders Liverpool take on third-placed Arsenal in a huge game in North London on Sunday afternoon.
“[Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa and Conor Bradley] I think they feel good but not when it comes to playing for us during the weekend. Federico might train with us today or tomorrow, but Jota definitely not [available against Arsenal] and Conor Bradley, let’s see if he can be with us tomorrow.”
Jota’s absence will be greeted positively at Arsenal, with the Portugal international boasting a prolific record against the Gunners. The forward has scored eight goals and assisted two more in 15 career appearances against Arsenal in all competitions.
Slot also provided an update on Alisson, who is expected back after November’s international break.
“Progressing well like we expect but it’s not a shot-term recovery, so difficult to judge him. The best way to judge an injury us at the end phase of his rehab and he’s not there yet. I can’t tell you how long he will be out but don’t expect him to be at Brighton in the cup or next week.”
