Pep Guardiola delivers Man City injury update ahead of Spurs clash

Pep Guardiola confirmed that Manchester City do not expect any of their injured players to return in time for next week’s meeting with Spurs.

The Premier League champions travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday in the last-16 of the League Cup.

Man City currently have six players sidelined through injury, most notably Rodri who has been ruled out for the rest of the season after having surgery on an ACL tear.

Jeremy Doku picked up something in the Wolves game and Jack Grealish sustained an injury in training the following day.

Guardiola – Southampton ‘one of the best in the Premier League’

Kyle Walker returned from international duty with England with a knee issue, while Oscar Bobb is out until January at least.

It’s left Guardiola with a thin squad as they face into four games in 11 days, but the Catalan tactician plans to rest his usual starters against Spurs.

Asked if any of his stricken players could return for the trip to north London, he responded: “I don’t think so, we will see what happens.

“In this calendar, the Carabao Cup is just to play with the young players. We will see if we play with academy players or see how they come back fresh from that.”

On a positive note for Man City, they came away from Saturday’s 1-0 home win over Southampton with no fresh injury concerns.
