Mikel Arteta has revealed that Arsenal defender Ben White is facing ‘months’ out after undergoing knee surgery.
Arsenal have opted to send White for surgery to deal with a long-standing issue that has been troubling the right-back. Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Nottingham Forest this weekend, Arteta revealed White is facing a significant spell out.
“It’s been a different kind of a struggle. Never been the same thing,” Arteta said.
“But we had to make a decision, he’s not been improving the last few weeks unfortunately.
“We know Ben is going to push every boundary but it got to a point where we had to protect the player and we decided to do the surgery.
“He agreed with that. And that’s obviously going to keep him out for a few months.”
There was better news on Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Leandro Trossard and Riccardo Calafiori with Arteta revealing the quartet are all available after shaking off injury issues.
“They’ve had their first session today and are very good,” said Arteta.
