Enzo Maresca has said Cole Palmer and Joao Felix are ‘different from the rest’ of his squad at Chelsea.
Palmer was the architect of an impressive win for Chelsea on Sunday, as the West Londoners beat top-four rivals Aston Villa 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.
The 22-year-old set up Enzo Fernandez’s goal for the second, before completing the rout with a fine finish bent into the top corner. Palmer now has eight goals and six assists in 13 appearances in the Premier League this season.
Maresca was full of praise for the midfielder following the win and said Palmer, alongside teammate Joao Felix, are ‘different from the rest’ of his squad.
Felix has struggled for minutes in the Premier League this season but has starred in Europe, with four goals in four Conference League appearances. The Portugal international returned to Chelsea in the summer from Atletico Madrid, following a previous loan spell at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca believes the duo are ‘the reason why people pay for tickets’ given their ability to make things happen on the pitch.
“Cole Palmer and Joao Felix are the reason why people pay for tickets. It is to watch that kind of player that they come,” said Maresca.
“Cole Palmer can see things, like Joao, that the rest, they cannot see. That does not mean the rest are not good, but those two are different from the rest.”
