Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are prepared to go head-to-head in the race to sign Malik Tillman from PSV Eindhoven.
Tillman has been one of the breakout stars of the European football season and has caught the eye in the Champions League for the Dutch champions.
The 22-year-old has three goals and two assists in five games in the competition this season, alongside five goals in 12 Eredivisie appearances.
Sky Germany are reporting that Spurs and Aston Villa have each made concrete enquiries into the availability of the midfielder.
Tillman – who had a loan spell at Rangers in 2022/23, where he was named PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year – was born in Germany but represents the United States at international level.
A product of the Bayern Munich academy, the German side hold a buy-back option and matching right but currently have no plans to bring Tillman back to the Allianz Arena.
English interest has emerged, though a transfer may need to wait until the summer. Tillman’s release clause at PSV, believed to be between €30m and €40m, does not become active until the summer.
