Havertz says Arsenal teammate can ‘turn games on his own’

Kai Havertz has called Martin Odegaard ‘magic’ and said the Arsenal captain can ‘turn games around on his own’.

Odegaard’s return from injury has coincided with Arsenal’s improvement in results and performances. The Gunners have won three straight games since the international break, scoring 13 goals during victories over Nottingham Forest, Sporting Lisbon and West Ham.

The Norway international has been instrumental in each of those wins and Havertz was asked what it is like to play alongside Odegaard in North London.

Havertz says Arsenal captain Odegaard is ‘just magic’

“For me it’s quite nice! He’s just magic,” Havertz said to Sky Sports.

“He makes everything so calm and easy on the pitch, has the confidence to turn games around on his own, even in bad moments he takes the ball and does something with it. He never shies away. He’s a very important player for us.”

Arsenal have climbed to second in the Premier League amid their upturn in form, ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Manchester United at the Emirates. Despite a nine-point gap to leaders Liverpool, Havertz is confident that Arsenal can catch the Merseysiders in the title race.

“It’s still in the first part of the season and a lot can happen. For me personally, I think how much tougher the Premier League gets year by year,” Havertz continued.

“Liverpool all of a sudden performing at the highest level week in, week out and I have to give credit to them for sure. But (there are) lots of games to play points to get so we will be ready for the fight for sure.

“There is still a lot of things in the team that we can develop and be better in and I’m sure the next couple of years are going to be great for us and I think everyone will be ready for it.”
