Dele Alli has thanked Everton for their support as he prepares to take on a new challenge.
Alli is expected to begin training with Como in January ahead of a potential move to the Italian side. The 28-year-old will link up with the Serie A side, who are under the management of Cesc Fabregas, in the new year.
Alli has not made a professional appearance since representing Besiktas on loan from Everton in February 2023. Last year, he revealed he has spent time in rehab as he sought support in combatting multiple childhood traumas.
Ahead of his official departure from Everton, Alli has thanked the Merseyside squad for their support during ‘an incredibly tough journey’ and expressed his gratitude to the Blues. He said now is the right time to ‘turn a new page’ as he looks to relaunch his career amid ‘some exciting opportunities’.
“As widely published, 2025 may set me on a new path with some exciting opportunities,” Alli said in a statement on social media.
“Before any of that happens it’s very important for me to make clear how grateful I am of all the fans, staff and players at Everton for the support they have given me.
“It has been an incredibly tough journey trying to put the pieces together to regain match fitness and I cannot thank the Everton staff enough for the hard work they have put into the process.
“Unfortunately things haven’t worked out as we all would have hoped and I think it is the right time for me to turn a new page.
“I want to wish everyone at this amazing club the very best of luck and hopefully we will see each other again soon.”
