Barcelona are monitoring his situation closely with the Catalans keen to bring the former Atletico Madrid midfielder back to La Liga.
The club’s economic issues have made free transfer signings the priority in Catalonia. Recent transfer windows have seen Andreas Christensen and Ilkay Gundogan signed from the Premier League as free agents. Barcelona are also chasing a deal to sign Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen as the Germany international approaches the end of his deal.
Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Partey is next on the club’s radar. The Ghana international has been an important figure for Arsenal since his £45m arrival in North London but has been plagued by fitness issues.
He has failed to start more than 30 league games in any of his four full seasons at Arsenal and will turn 32 in the summer. His injury record and age could prevent Arsenal from extending his deal.
Partey – who will be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with Barcelona on January 1 – previously helped Atletico to the La Liga title during his previous spell in the division.
