‘Ongoing challenge’ at Everton will ‘cost a lot of money’ to fix

A familiar failing cost Everton on Saturday as they couldn’t score against Bournemouth at Dean Court, leading to their eighth Premier League defeat of the season.

The Toffees had the worst scoring record among top-flight teams across 2024 (not including the promoted or relegated sides) and have only scored 15 in 19 games this term. Only Southampton (12) have scored fewer.

Their defensive record has kept them above water; they’ve conceded just 25 goals and Jordan Pickford has seven clean sheets to his name, the second-most in the Premier League.

As impressive as that is, it’s clear they need to improve in attack, but Sean Dyche points out that finding a solution to that particular problem will not come cheaply.
