PSG reluctant to sell forward amid Arsenal and Man United interest

Paris Saint-Germain are reluctant to sell Lee Kang-in amid considerable interest from the Premier League.

Manchester United and Newcastle have been linked with a move to sign the South Korean, who is also under discussion at Arsenal. The 23-year-old is understood to be open to a new challenge despite featuring more regularly under Luis Enrique this season.

Kang-in has six goals and two assists from 17 Ligue 1 appearances this season, though just nine of those have come from the start. Several English sides are interested in a potential deal for the versatile forward.

According to The Athletic, however, PSG are reluctant to sell the highly-rated forward who is viewed as an important asset on and off the pitch for the French champions.

His presence in Paris is understood to have a ‘big impact’ for the club commercially in the Asian market and PSG would demand at least double the €22m fee paid to sign the Korean from Spanish side Real Mallorca in 2023.

That fee appears to place Kang-in out of the reach of Arsenal this month, as the Gunners look to add depth to their forward line. However, Arsenal are ready to make a move if PSG show receptiveness to ‘a loan with an option to buy’.

Bukayo Saka’s absence after undergoing hamstring surgery has heightened the need for additions at the Emirates. Kang-in, who can operate on either flank or as a central striker, would increase Mikel Arteta’s options. Arsenal are also watching Dani Olmo’s situation. Barcelona are currently unable to register the summer signing due to economic issues.
