AC Milan make move for wantaway Kyle Walker

AC Milan are interested in signing Kyle Walker this month after the defender expressed a desire to leave Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola revealed that the club captain has requested to leave the Etihad to explore options abroad.

Walker was not included in the City squad for Saturday’s 8-0 FA Cup win over Salford. Speaking at full-time, Guardiola revealed the 34-year-old is keen to leave: “Two days ago, Kyle asked to explore the options to play abroad at the end of his career.

“In his [Walker’s] mind, he would like to explore it, to go to another country, to play the last years [somewhere else] for many reasons. For that reason, I prefer playing other players whose mind is here.”

Walker has won 17 trophies since signing for the Citizens from Tottenham in 2017. He is now keen to explore his options and Fabrizio Romano has revealed there are proposals from Milan and the Saudi Pro League.

Milan are keen to sign the veteran this month and are hopeful Walker will be allowed to move to the San Siro without a transfer fee.

The Italian side have a growing contingent of English players in their current squad, with Fikayo Tomori, Tammy Abraham and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all with the Rossoneri. Milan have also held talks with the representatives of Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford. The 27-year-old is keen to leave Old Trafford this month in search of a new challenge.
