Aston Villa in talks with Chelsea over double deal

Aston Villa are in talks with Chelsea over a double deal to sign Axel Disasi and Joao Felix before the transfer deadline.

Unai Emery wants to bring in a centre-back this month and is targeting a deal for Disasi. The France international has struggled for favour at Chelsea this season and has started just four times in the Premier League.

Villa are desperate to bring in defensive reinforcements following injuries to Pau Torres and Tyrone Mings, alongside the sale of Diego Carlos to Fenerbahce this month. Disasi is understood to have given preference to a move to Villa Park despite receiving approaches from across Europe and England, including from Wolves.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Villa have also enquired into the availability of Felix. The forward rejoined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid for an initial fee of £42m in the summer but has failed to nail down an automatic role in Enzo Maresca’s side. The presence of Cole Palmer at Stamford Bridge has restricted his minutes and Villa are hopeful of a deal. Felix has started just three times in the Premier League this season.

A deal for Felix hinges on whether Chelsea are willing to let the Portugal international leave this month. With Christopher Nkunku also open to an exit, it remains to be seen whether the Blues allow one – or both – to depart.

Villa’s pursuit could also depend on the future of Jhon Duran. Villa rejected a bid for the Colombian from West Ham earlier in the transfer window but are prepared to sell the striker if their £80m asking price is matched. Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr are interested in a deal for the 21-year-old.
